Peachtree Corners Earns 2nd
Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA, May 7, 2019 – Gwinnett County’s newest city, Peachtree Corners, has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the second straight year. The award was presented by the Government Finance Officers Association, a national association focused on government finance policy and management.
The award represents a significant achievement by the city’s Finance Department and its Finance Director. It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff in meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. It is the 6-year-old city’s second time applying for the award and signifies the city’s commitment to transparency in its budgeting process.
“The city is dedicated to fiscal responsibility at every level and this award proves our commitment,” said Brian Johnson, City Manager. “The award also illustrates the city’s commitment to communications in the budgeting process.”
To receive the budget award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the city’s budget serves as:
• A policy document
• A financial plan
• An operations guide
• A communications device
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within each of those categories to receive the award.
“This is an important award that validates Peachtree Corners’ commitment to responsible and successful budgeting,” said Brandon Branham, Finance Director. “We strive for excellence in all financial matters and appreciate this national recognition for our ongoing efforts.”
The Government Finance Officers Association is a non-profit organization serving the needs of more than 19,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The association is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, with offices in Washington D.C.
