Matt Childs is the founder and Managing Partner of Childs Company, a boutique private wealth management practice.  They provide comprehensive financial planning and investment strategies to business owners, executives, retirees, and young professionals. 

 
You lead a wealth management practice that is deeply engaged in providing an extraordinary level of service to clients. How do you and your team work to achieve this?
At Childs Company we work hard to “go deep” and learn as much as possible about each client we work with.  This includes understanding their personal situation, goals, and dreams. We put the clients’ interests above our own and work to provide independent and objective advice. 

What is your background as a business owner, and how has that helped you better understand your entrepreneurial clients?
Prior to founding Childs Company, I was the CFO and a major shareholder at After Hours Formal Wear, the nation's largest retailer and wholesaler of men's formal wear. During my tenure at After Hours, the company grew from 50 locations and $10 million of revenue to 240 locations and $120 million of revenue.  I worked with the management team at After Hours to develop and execute a plan to consolidate their industry, concluding with a successful sale to a public company.
As a seasoned business owner and executive, I understand the journey an entrepreneur is on because I’ve been there. At Childs Company, we add value to our entrepreneurial clients by understanding their business and integrating business plans with personal financial plans. We are also able to assist our clients by consulting on succession and exit strategies.

What are some ways you help small business owners invest strategically?
For small business owners, having the right investment strategy in place can further grow and protect your initial investment.  At Childs Company we’ll work with you to find smart ways to invest your small business profits.  This can include having diversity in your investment portfolio, utilizing dollar-cost averaging, and focusing on long term investing.  We can help the business owner to understand the risks involved with different investment strategies and help them to choose the strategy that is right for them and their business.

Childs Company is deeply involved in our community.  Can you share some of what you do to support local businesses and community organizations?
We live, work, and play in the Peachtree Corners, Johns Creek area and do all we can to help our neighbors, and drive responsible growth and progress.  We actively support many of our clients' charitable organizations, including Camp Horizon, Corners Outreach, Cristo Rey, Good Samaritan Health Center, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Wellspring Living, Young Life and Your Grateful Nation.
